couple of points i absolutely agree with. one is that he is right, it is really scary, what is going on. can you imagine that somebody s private home has been accessed, whether it is outside come on top of the building, where children live, where those children are going to have to come back at some point and they are going to be petrified. i m speaking from a police perspective, when we deal with victims, he talked about burglary, this was not a burglary because you have to prove intent and gain access to the building, but having dealt with thousands of victims of crime, that have had their house broken into, or they have had people outside, it is irrelevant whether you are careful when you entered and had a big smile on yourface. children in when you entered and had a big smile on your face. children in that environment particularly will not be having a big smile on theirface, they will be petrified. that will have lasting effects on them.

that s the attitude here today in barnstable for the biggest ever clean up of the river taw. we feel it s important to bring all the services together, all the students and just work together to clear up our town, as a community, really, notjust the river. this is the fourth clean up of the river taw in the last two years, and each time, things like shopping trolleys and traffic cones are among the larger items being removed. i think it s only one or two people who do this kind of thing. however, there are accidental things to get in the river, but a lot is deliberate and it s quite sad. as well as making the town look better, river clean ups like this are important for the safety of anyone using the water. shopping trolleys, bicycles, tires, that sort of thing, the only reason they re in the river is cos somebody s chucked them there in the first place. so, let sjust have a little bit more thought, let sjust have some kind of consideration that there is nobody paid to get this stuff o
