Updated: 12:14 PM CDT Jun 3, 2021 KMBC 9 News Staff The Westport Entertainment District announced Thursday it is bringing back security screening around the perimeter of the pedestrian-only area on weekends.In a news release, Westport said starting this Friday five security screening checkpoints will be placed around what is now known as Westport Live starting at 11 p.m. and continuing through 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The security screening is expected to last through the summer months and it normally ends sometime in October.“Westport is nearing the return to pre-pandemic levels of adults 21 and over visiting on Friday and Saturday nights,” the district said in the release. “With the crowds returning and nicer weather, Westport’s enhanced security screening will re-launch Friday, June 4, with five checkpoints around the perimeter of the pedestrian-only zone.”Westport said the checks are like scans performed at stadiums that forbid entr
