Hailing from California and re-constituting themselves in 2015 after breaking up in 2012 Sherwood are part of the BadChristian community that focusses on interacting with culture from an alternative Christian point of view. This album was funded as a Kickstarter project and is full of upbeat, danceable rock n roll. The songs portray aspects of love: wanted, lost, unrequited, generally human but also pointing to the divine although never explicitly. Bottle It Up commencing with telephone speaker vocals asks how past love can be recaptured, backed by a crunching guitar riff, before sliding into a Beach Boys-style chorus. New Year s Eve has a jangly solo guitar over a plaintive vocal expressing memories of a lost love and marriage whilst the song builds with the singer reflecting that things could have been different. The Unknown encourages listeners to take steps of faith, overcome fear and move on into the future, smoothly backed by light touch guitar
