Some Itsekiri indigenes comprising mostly youths yesterday stormed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Zone ‘5’ Headquarters in Benin, Edo State, where they protested continued police involvement in the crisis rocking the Olu of Warri stool and requested that the police allow all the chiefs resolve issues amicably.
Brandishing several placards and inscription, the protesting youths said the continued insistence that police should resolve the issue was a letdown on the custom and tradition of Itsekiri. A protester, Samuel Khalil appealed to all the chiefs and the ruling house to give peace a chance. Scott Anwani, who joined in condemning the involvement of police in a traditional matter include, said “We have gone round to most of the chiefs in Warri kingdom and other stakeholders who are involved.
