On Monday, the Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield will kick off at Naval Station Mayport, a 10-day training Navy sailors do annually to put their defense skills to test.
Things will get busy in and around Jacksonville s U.S. Navy bases over the next two weeks.
But the busier bases and possible traffic issues inside and outside of them are just part of their participation in the Navy s annual nationwide Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield exercises.
Anti-terrorism drills will be conducted on and off Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport between Monday and Feb. 14, the Navy said. The annual anti-terrorism/force protection exercises are designed to train Navy security forces and first responders to react to potential threats to their bases.
The U.S. Navy advised the drills are not in response to any specific threat.
