India has moved up a spot to third position on EY s Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index owing to an exceptional performance on the solar photovoltaic (PV) front. US and China are in the first and the second spot, respectively.

KUALA LUMPUR: Pekat Group Bhd, a solar photovoltaic (PV) and earthing and lightning protection (ELP) specialist, is seeking a listing on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia.
In conjunction with the initial public offering (IPO) exercise, it signed an underwriting agreement with M&A Securities Sdn Bhd today, the company said in a statement.

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has announced a major milestone in its renewable energy programme with the launch of the Sudair Solar PV plant in Sudair Industrial City, Saudi Arabia, with a PIF-backed consortium signing a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company for 25 years.
The announcement came during the inauguration ceremony of the Sakaka solar PV plant, also located in Saudi Arabia, under the patronage of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Energy Mix Affairs for Electricity Production and Enabling Renewable Energy Sector. The ceremony was attended by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy, and HRH Prince Faisal bin Nawwaf bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Al-Jouf Region.
NTPC adds 660 MW Unit-2 of Tanda power project to installed capacity

State-owned power giant NTPC Ltd on Monday said it has added 660 MW Unit-2 of Tanda Super Thermal Power Station in Uttar Pradesh to its installed capacity.
“Unit-2 of 660 MW capacity of Tanda Super Thermal Power Station, Stage-II (2 x 660 MW) has successfully completed the trial operation and consequently included in the installed capacity of NTPC Group from March 31, 2021,” a BSE filing said.
With this, the total installed capacity of NTPC and NTPC group has become 52,385 MW and 65,810 MW, respectively, it added.

The speakers were talking about that bit of bad luck and joking that utility solar doesn’t get any love. Then someone chimed in, “Demand response, EVs, flow batteries those are cool subjects. But the four of us know utility solar makes the real impact. We are big, but boring.”
