Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has condoled with families of 13 persons killed in a boat mishap at Doruwa village, Shagari Local Government Area of the State.
Recall that the boat conveying the deceased persons, including women, children and elderly, was said to be travelling from Doruwa to Ginga village in Shagari LGA on Thursday evening when it capsized.
Tambuwal, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Muhammad Bello, instructed that henceforth, marine travellers in Sokoto would have to wear life jackets and embark on their journeys in motorboats instead of dug-out canoes.
Wamakko mourns Arzika Tureta, says death is shocking
The death of the incumbent Sokoto State Commissioner for Agriculture, Muhammadu Arzika Tureta, has been described as shocking and saddening by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
In a statement signed, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani, Wamakko, a former Governor of Sokoto State recalled that, the deceased had diligently served as a Commissioner of Education , Water Resources and Agriculture, under his administration.
Mr. Wamakko said, the deceased had made tremendous contributions to the educational, agricultural and socioeconomic development of the state.
Wamakko mourns Arzika Tureta

Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, says the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and ten other Military Officers is sad and a big blow to the ongoing war on terror .

According to him, their demise is also certainly a formidable setback to the concerted efforts by the military and other security agencies, to combat the myriad of security challenges across Nigeria.
Senator Wamakko says the General had reenergized the war against insurgency, banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping and other related crimes .
