Sign Up A new study at Aberdeen University has suggested international travel had the biggest impact on death rates during the first wave of Coronavirus. Research led by academics at the Granite City institution found an increase of a million international arrivals was associated with a 3.4% spike in mean daily Covid deaths. Findings come after a dedicated team of professors, academics and scholarship students examined a range of factors including border arrivals, population density, the percentage of people living in urban areas and many others – which were then compared with the mortality rates across 37 of the worst hit countries.

Something went wrong - please try again later. Sign Up The South Asian and medical community have paid their respects to an “eminent” Aberdeen physician who died age 85. Dr Arun Mukerjee, who is described as by his former colleagues as being an “eminent physician” and “pillar of strength” within the Grampian South Asian community, died on November 29. He was born in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India and graduated from the R.G.Kar Medical College in Calcutta before moving to the UK where he spent two decades as an NHS consultant at Stoke on Trent and Cardiff.
