KARACHI: A local court on Tuesday remanded in police custody a third suspect arrested in a case of illegally administering stolen Covid-19 vaccines to people at their homes and receiving money for it.
Police claimed to have booked and arrested Abdul Samad, Tahira Bano and Waqas for allegedly stealing vaccines from government stocks and illegally administering them to people at their homes for money in a Saddar locality.
Three suspects, retired major Amanullah Sultan; owner of a health services provider company, M/s Sultan Madad Private Limited, his field officer Mohammed Ali and a government vaccinator, Mohammad Zeeshan, are already remanded in judicial custody in the case.

The suspect had allegedly pilfered the vaccines from a Covid vaccination centre.
The senior officer hinted that more suspects might be involved in the activity.
According to contents of the FIR reviewed by Dawn, the complainant provincial drug inspector, district South, Ghulam Ali, said he received information that certain persons had taken away Covid vaccines from a vaccination centre established by the Sindh government and were allegedly administering them to people at their homes in return for money. After receiving such information, the complainant said he approached Mohammed Ali, whose name was given to him for being involved in the activity.

KARACHI: Police on Monday arrested a man for illegally selling COVID-19 vaccines as he provided door-to-door vaccination to people. He was arrested during a raid in the Khalid Bin Waleed Road area by Preedy police officials and Sindh’s drugs authorities.
The suspect, a field officer of a private company, was arrested with disposable syringes, blank vaccination cards, vaccine doses and specimen collection swabs. A case under the drugs act has been registered against the suspect identified as Muhammad Ali on the complaint of the South drugs inspector.
Police said the arrest was made after the drugs authorities received information about vaccine doses being stolen from the designated vaccination centres and being sold privately. The raid was carried out in the presence of Dr Sohail Raza Sher, focal person for Covid-19 in Sindh.
