CAMDEN The Vance Charter softball team put together their best season in program history by winning their first 15 games, cementing themselves as a favorite for the NCHSAA 1A Softball State Championship.
A disastrous first inning against Camden County on Saturday afternoon quickly squashed those hopes, as head coach Brian Bunn and his players were left stunned following their season-ending 10-0 loss.
â[Camden County] came out and put pressure on us from the start,â Bunn said. âThe first inning really decided the whole game. We made a couple of errors and we could have gotten out of the inning down 2-0 but it ended up being 7-0. You have to play almost perfect in the playoffs but really didnât do anything good today.â
