georgia, especially, but a lot of strong wind and hail reports yesterday. that was yesterday. now today. we re seeing a repeat of storms across the same area. we ve seen it the last four days. we have another three days to get through this. because of this prolonged period of severe weather each day forming in the same spot, that also increases our flood threat as well. take a look at today, down here to the southeast. you can see this lightning and these really strong storms. that s exacerbating the threat for flooding. a bigger threat for severe weather across parts of the central plains. this is where we re likely going to be talking about significant hail. we ve had hail today, baseball size. we expect to see some larger than that. maybe softball size hail. that will cause really damage to any crops getting going here and to any buildings and cars. get your cars protected as well. some of these storms already beginning to fire just to the southwest of the oklahoma city area right n
well, but severe weather threat will continue through the rest of the night, from texas to wisconsin. meanwhile, record temperatures will be in the forecast tomorrow from the carolinas to new england. let s bring a meteorologist mike bettes from our partners at the weather channel to explain it all. good evening, mike. reporter: norah, good evening. we will see strong storms again tonight, some of them just as fierce as what omar showed us in oklahoma, but they extend well beyond oklahoma. texas, all the way into michigan, through the night tonight, most of these storms will produce high winds, as well as large hail. that hail could be the size of baseballs. we saw some softball size hail yesterday. a lot of these storms will produce heavy rain, as well peter but tomorrow there is a threat that comes in in the morning. there will be another threat that comes in in the afternoon, as well, houston over toward new orleans. not to mention we also have springtime if not summertime tempera
nebraska. and we heard there from the official that we don t know the extent of damage just yet, but what do we know right now, allison? the key thing is the damage that you re seeing is just one of the possible tornadoes that came through late last night and through the overnight hours. this is a general map showing you where the vast majority of the tornado reports that we received the last 24 hours where you can see several around wichita likely all from that same tornado where you saw the damage in andover. you have several other spots where potentially tornadoes also touched down. you also have over 80 damaging wind reports and 60 hail reports. one of those being larger than softball size. you have to understand, this wasn t just tiny hail the size of dimes or quarters. this was substantial hail that came down in several places. now, here is the key thing to note, too, that april so far is above average for the tornado count. that marks the second month in a row where we had an
