think, in these years, these decades since? if you look from a socio-historical perspective the military has come a long way. we ve been leaders in a lot of front. we haven t led in every area of social change but even in those areas where we haven t led we have been trendsetters. how would you say you have been trendsetters. has the army gotten it right? i think for the most part we have gotten it right and that s not to suggest that the smilt a panacea by any sense of the word. for the most part we have gotten it right. president truman s executive order that kind of did desegregation in the armed force is the model for fouls. that particular order led the way for the civil rights movement in lots of ways. there have been other things
