Columbia County small businesses receive $929K in state grants
Local businesses received $929,274 in state-funded small business grants in December.
Grants were awarded to 159 businesses and nonprofits across eight cities and towns in Columbia County. The majority of recipients were smaller sole proprietorships, according to the press release from the county. The hospitality industry received more than a quarter of the grant funds, or $258,978.
Each of Oregon s 36 counties received a portion of $55 million in business grant funding in early December. The counties had until Dec. 30 to award all the funds.
Each county received a base amount of $500,000 from the state, and the rest of the money was distributed to counties based on population.
