UPDATE: Protesters gather at Southeast Portland park after police reportedly kill a white male with a gun Friday morning.
Portland police killed an armed man in Lents Park early Friday, April 16.
According to Deputy Police Chief Chris Davis, East Precinct officers responded to a call of a white male pointing a gun in the park at 9:30 a.m. After they arrived, both non-lethal and lethal force was used.
The shooting took place near Southeast 92nd Avenue and Holgate Street. Officers provided emergency medical attention to the man, but he was declared deceased, said Davis, who spoke at a 12:30 p.m. press conference.
