KOIN 6 community partner St. Jude Children s Research Hospital got a big check from a local car group on Tuesday, May 25. Royal Moore Subaru in Hillsboro presented St. Jude with a check for more than $60,000. A portion of the donation comes from their Share the Love event. Royal Moore s Executive Director Brent Arritola said the whole staff wanted to support St. Jude, which helps families fighting childhood cancer. Most of them during the pandemic, while wearing masks, would wear St. Jude masks and ask customers if they would also like to contribute to St. Jude while they were buying a vehicle or servicing a car, and we had great involvement from our community and our own staff raising donations on their own private Facebook pages to donate, as well, Arritola said.

Officers found the 30-year-old mother shot to death inside an apartment on Wednesday, May 5, following reports of gunfire near North Willamette Boulevard and North Charleston Avenue.

The Gresham Police Department said Monday that the 13-year-old girl who ran away from home Saturday night has retutned home and is safe. According to investigators, Torres left her home at 184th Avenue and East Burnside Street shortly after 11 p.m. on May 15. They said Torres turned off her phone and deactivated social media accounts. Her friends told police they don t know where she is. Investigators say Torres has made statements previously implying she may want to harm herself. One killed, two wounded in Wednesday shootings May 13 2021 A man is shot and killed in broad daylight near a restaurant in Northeast Portland on May 12. Police are investigating two shootings on Wednesday, May 12, including a killing in broad daylight. According to police, a man was shot to death around 5:30 p.m. near Northeast Sandy Boulevard and Northeast 118th Avenue. Family members identified the victim as Jalon Yoakum. The shooting happened in an area where several people were going to pick up dinner from a local pizza restaurant and a barbecue restaurant. This shooting touched many members of the community, including Pastor J.W. Matt Hennessee.
