former trump campaign adviser. good morning. good morning. good morning, guys. thank you for getting up early for us. se cupp, why does what happened last night matter so much in terms of the future? well, there s so many lessons from this race. it s a microcosm of republican problems. the first and most obvious is that candidate quality does matter. and georgia republicans deserved a better candidate. many didn t demand one, but they deserved one. so mcconnell was right? 100%. look at the map. look at where republicans won everywhere else except this race. second is, herschel walker didn t win but almost won. that means that a lot of republicans didn t put character on the ballot, didn t care about things like integrity, honesty, transparency, intelligence. i think republicans should look at whether that should be acceptable going forward.
ainsley: so much hangs on this one race. brian: important point is people talking about trumping and getting involved and not getting involved. huge problem with mi rick scottd mitch mcconnell. one had a leadership fund. the other had rnc senate fund. they would fund certain candidates. others would ignore certain candidates. so mcconnell and rick scott should have really found a way to get a therapist. steve: mitch mcconnell did fund j.d. vance to the tune of $35 million because j.d. only had $12 million as of october 19th. mitch mcconnell super pac came in, got a bunch of ads and changed how the people of ohio felt about tim ryan and ultimately j.d. vance won. brian: not with blake masters. he left bolduc out to his own devices. obviously trump should have put in more money, too. ainsley: one of the reasons y all went to the polls to the vote because of inflation. inflation is so high right now. we are at a 40 year high. every time you go into the grocery store you try try
his comment about the doors senate candidates. i mean they ve gone through this before. but what happens if these candidates lose? listen, mcconnell s absolutely right the candidates matter. and these are not a strong roster candidates of who you mentioned with the exception of ron johnson are first-time officeholders running statewide. i also know j.d. vance in very red ohio is doing significantly worse than he should be to tim ryan, a popular moderate democrat. listen you can t nominate people based on how much they appeal to the base. you re gonna have to see how they are fair and the general election. mark my words is this beginning as previously criticize mitch mcconnell now want the senate leadership fund and want the political arm to bail them out in those lagging in the polls. so mcconnell s gonna come up fine with this. there s me no ditching mitch. we know this is gonna be the language of trump attacking him.
doesn t tell these people to go home, the rioters in the capitol, we ll call for the 25th amendment. so trump does a second and third take of the video. he s responding to the panic. yes. alexander burns, the mitch mcconnell, liz cheney exchanges that you have in the book are so telling about mitch mcconnell. here s one excerpt. mcconnell found the whole liz cheney saga confusing, a cardinal sin, relinquishing power. why to willingly jeopardize host by continually condemning trump, just ignore like i do, quite telling about mcconnell. certainly is, and about liz cheney too. the two of them have a conversation at one point last year where she basically tells him, that is just not going to work. you can t just sort of avert your gaze from donald trump. if you re going to take on donald trump, get rid of donald trump, you have to take on donald trump and get rid of donald trump. so mcconnell s response at that point was, basically, i don t need any more lectures from you
