The Snyderville Basin Planning Commission on Tuesday seemed to agree with the overwhelming negative sentiment it heard at its previous meeting regarding a proposed 27-building apartment complex, unanimously declaring that the project does not belong across the road from the Highland Estates neighborhood.
The commission forwarded a negative recommendation to the Summit County Council, which will have the final say on the project, barring an appeal to district court.

A kidney-shaped swath of land in Highland Estates that is now home to the occasional elk could be transformed into an apartment complex with two dozen buildings and 1,000 residents or more if it gains Summit County approval, a prospect that neighbors vehemently oppose.
The proposal will head back to the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission on Tuesday, where it is scheduled to receive a public hearing. Information about how to access the meeting is available on the county’s website, summitcounty.org

The Snyderville Basin Planning Commission has two new members, one of whom has flown to the edge of space and seen the curvature of the earth, while the other has concentrated on more terrestrial endeavors, helping to develop big-name projects like the Goldener Hirsch Inn expansion at Deer Valley Resort and the Utah Inland Port.
