weather conditions in boston, new york city. take until noon for the conditions to improve in around cape code. that s good news. jim dickey, live at accu weather. thanks so much, jim. the midwest is digging out from the storm, and now the midwest is dealing with frigid temperatures. it hasn t been nearly this cold in two decades. reporter: from blaring sirens in evanston, illinois, alerting residents to a snow emergency, to a chicago whiteout, up to 18 inches of fresh snow in places, the midwest is a blowing, snowing deep freeze. officials, too, sounding a warning. we asked that residents check on the well-being of residents, friends and neighbors. reporter: the city s full fleet of 287 snowplows and salt spreaders dominate the streets. snowplows in rosemont out in force too, looking like a choreographed valet, drivers operating on little sleep.
