hello. a sprinkling of snow across parts of scotland and northern england made it officially a white christmas, whereas for much of the uk, it was grey and damp. more substantial snow to start boxing day from this weather front which is running into colder air, and snow falling over the hills of northern england and parts of scotland seeing some to relatively low levels for the start of boxing day as that system moves into the colder air. we have had a battle between mild and cold air and there is only going to be one winner in the week ahead and we will see that in a moment. for now, the cold air, with a frost to start in parts of northern england and scotland on boxing day with some sleet and snow around, just edging further north through scotland during the day. perhaps some difficult travel conditions over some of the higher routes with snow blowing around in the wind. elsewhere for boxing day, there will be cloud and showers around but it will gradually brighten up in wales
