Remote sensing of the cryosphere is an important topic of modern environmental studies. This is due to the fact that snow and ice cover large portions of the Northern hemisphere in winter and also snow permanently presents almost over the whole of Antarctica, which is the fifth-largest continent almost twice of Australia. The snow also permanently presents over Greenland. It has been found that a million years ago, frosty Greenland was ice-free, its bare bedrock exposed for 280,000 years. It has been confirmed that the surface ice in Greenland is more variable than once thought which does not bode well for its future stability in a warming world. The melting of ice and snow in Greenland and also at other areas of the globe is accelerated due to an increase in air temperature, snow pollution, and rain frequency (also in the areas, where liquid precipitation has not been observed before) leading to various natural hazards. The main subject of this Research Topic is the presentation of m
