(Sandusky) - Cedar Point is doing something they couldn t do last year, thanks to the pandemic. They re opening on time!
Cedar Point will be open on Friday, and will have regular operating hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during May, along with being open on Memorial Day.
Park General Manager Carrie Boldman says everything s ready. She s ready as well, having been promoted to the general manager s position just a few weeks go. She s a native of the area, and besides working for Cedar Point, she also has experience working for Disney.
Cedar Point spokesman Tony Clark says things they had planned for the park s 150th anniversary will be happening this year. They included the Snake River Expedition, a family-friendly boat ride, and the Celebrate 150 Spectacular Parade, which will feature two-story floats that will go through the park.

Millennium Force, funnel cakes, Planet Snoopy, fresh-cut fries and the famous mile-long Cedar Point Beach.
It all returns when Cedar Point opens for its 2021 season on Friday, May 14, which coincides with the park’s signature Frontier Festival. Reservations are required for all guests and can be made online.
“The world needs more fun right now, and our team is ecstatic to welcome guests back to the park for a summer of new memories,” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point.
“With safety of guests and associates as our top priority, it’s time to get back to the things we know and love, including traditions with family and friends at Cedar Point.”

Local manufacturer helps battle hunger on campus during the pandemic
MARION - Sakamura, USA, Inc. recently delivered a donation of 600 pounds of food to the Marion Campus Food Pantry. The pantry supports students from The Ohio State University Marion and Marion Technical College who may be experiencing food insecurity due to a lack of money and access to nutritious food.
The food was donated by employees of Sakamura. Manager of Mental Health and Wellness Services and advisor for the Buckeye Food Alliance Leslie Beary, who oversees operation of the pantry for the campus, said this was one of the largest donations they have ever received.

All these things return Friday with Cedar Point s 2021 season and the kick-off event, the Frontier Festival. Cedar Point says Frontier Festival this weekend and next and then daily May 28 through June 13.
