Hyderabad: Retired police officer K.S.N. Murthy, who was popularly known as Gabbar Singh, died of COVID-19.

The former Indian Police Service (IPS) official breathed his last on Sunday (May 16) at a private hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, where he was living since his retirement in the year 2000.
Murthy served in various capacities in the police department in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
Hailing from Andhra, the officer s first posting in Hyderabad was in the old city in the late 1980s. As Assistant Commissioner of Police, Charminar, he firmly dealt with anti-social elements and habitual offenders.

Active cases cross 10,000 in Srikakulam district
COVID-19 cases in Srikakulam district crossed the 10,000-mark on Saturday with the virus spreading fast in the district headquarters and other places.
