DALLAS, April 13, 2021 /PRNewswire/ After closing out the second half of last year with 12.2% sales growth, Smoothie King announced today it continued its impressive pace during the first quarter of 2021. The world leader in healthy smoothies experienced a record-breaking 18% same-store sales increase year-over-year for the first quarter, received 24 signed franchise agreements to develop 71 stores and welcomed nine franchisees into the system.
Additionally, Smoothie King opened 32 total locations in Q1. Fourteen of those newly-opened stores were inside the United States, while another 18 opened internationally. A few markets Smoothie King has already expanded further into this year include Philadelphia, Cleveland, Phoenix and St. Louis.

Smoothie King is partnering with gold medal gymnast Gabby Douglas to introduce its Stretch & Flex line of smoothies. The smoothies, which come in tart cherry or pineapple kale, are made from a proprietary blend of type II collagen, which helps increase joint flexibility and mobility and can reduce joint soreness during and after exercise, according to a press release.
The line was designed specifically for people who engage in yoga, dance, gymnastics, Pilates or any activity requiring flexibility.
