and good morning, everyone. this is andrea mitchell reports in washington following the continuing devastation from historic floods in kentucky. at this time at least 30 people are dead. thousands more are still trapped in their communities. with residents desperate for food, shelter, electricity, and clean drinking water. this morning kentucky governor andy beshear updating reporters on the devastation and search for survivors. i got to talk to some of the families here and the other places too. they don t have anything. i mean the clothes on their back, but happy to be alive and grateful for the folks that are helping out. on capitol hill, senate democrats are hoping to sell their colleague kyrsten sinema on a health care package than casts hundreds of billions into the climate and energy sectors. she has tremendous, tremendous input in these pieces of legislation. this is something everyone has worked on in the last eight months or more, and she basically insisted
Residents in Westcliff-on-Sea have been warned to keep their doors and windows closed overnight following a huge blaze that has caused the partial collapse of a three-storey building. Firefighters are warning of road closures after ‘working really hard to control the blaze.
As smoky skies and unseasonable heat persist, Environment Canada reported that there were eight temperature records set on Wednesday, along with one tie, across British Columbia.

Planned ground and aerial burning will be conducted this month in a number of national parks in Central Queensland.
Burns are to be conducted within Mount Archer National Park and State Forest, Byfield National Park and State Forest, and Blackdown Tableland National Park and Arthurs Bluff State Forest.
Smoke may be seen in Mount Archer, Rockhampton, Byfield, Lake Mary, Rossmoya, Bluff, South Blackwater, and neighbouring areas.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships will be conducting the burns as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.
The aim of the burning is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas to help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.
