The former Smithybridge Pub
Proposals for new social housing at the ‘eyesore’ site of the former Smithybridge pub are being developed by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH).
RBH is working with partners Triangle Architects and Armstrong Projects to develop proposals to build 14 new apartments on the site of the former pub, which has been derelict for a number of years.
Planning to transform the site into a Co-op store had been submitted in 2017, but no progress has been made.
Designed to be in keeping with the local area, the RBH plans would create 14 new one and two bedroom apartments, over 2 storeys, all for affordable rent; rents of up to 80 per cent of market rent which registered providers of social housing can charge for certain residential properties.
