The Dispatch
Bull City Ciderworks in Lexington is known for its in-house made ciders, and is working to be known as a patron of the arts.
The cidery, located in the Historic Depot District, recently became the first Davidson County location to host an Art-o-mat. The nine-slot vending machine that once dispensed a pack of cigarettes now dispenses original art with the pull of a knob. On the first day we had it, we sold about two dozen pieces of art, said John Clowney, owner of Bull City Ciderworks. It uses coins or tokens we have behind the cash register. You pay $5 at the register, get a coin, put it in the machine and out pops art.
