A ROAD in Kearsley was left buried in tonnes of material following a landslide as Storm Christoph showed its force in the borough last week. Trees, soil and other grounded materials were forced to the bottom of Quarry Road, cutting off a busy access route for residents and businesses. Susan Govindasamy, who lives at the top of Quarry Road, is one of a number of residents who were informed about the damage caused on Wednesday night. People living in the area were told by Bolton Council that the materials, which were estimated by Susan’s husband Mark to be 100 tonnes in weight, were due to be removed on Thursday.

A FLOOD investigation report has outlined the circumstances surrounding the serious flooding of dozens of homes and businesses in Prestolee in February. The aim of the investigation was to identify who was affected, to determine why the properties flooded, review responses during and after the event and recommend further action. Flooding at Riverside Drive, Prestolee and Smiths Road occurred on February 9 this year at around 1.30pm. The investigation, conducted by Bolton Council, said the havoc caused by Storm Ciara saw internal flooding of 25 properties and five businesses. At Riverside Drive the depth of the flooding was significant with around one metre depth inundating some homes.
