Last Wednesday (May 12) Carnaross Mart hosted Taaffe Auctions’ dairy sale, with the sale being noted as the last opportunity to buy freshly calved heifers and cows this spring.
The sale consisted of 116 lots made up of freshly calved heifers and cows, springing heifers and bulling heifers.
Entries from top herds such as: Cannontown; Smith Bros; Clonwood; Monamore; Ballydoogan; Ballyelan; Cornboro; Laurelmore; Seafield; Oranbay.
Also on offer at the sale were 40 heifer calves from the Borkilbeg herd, owned by Dermot and Joan Jackson, Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow.
The Borkilbeg herd was winner of champion herd, National Herds Competition (under 80 section) 2019 and 2020.

Gutey usually addresses a major position of need multiple ways. Corner is this year s example. He re-signed Kevin King. He will draft a corner very high. Lastly, I predict a free-agent corner signing after the draft.
Brian Gutekunst is his own GM but he s definitely taken that page out of the Ted Thompson playbook for building depth and competition (e.g. drafting JC Tretter and Corey Linsley in back-to-back years, drafting Ha Ha Clinton-Dix the same offseason the Packers moved Micah Hyde to safety, and drafting Rashan Gary after signing the Smith Bros.). Having options is critical for long-term success. It not only increases competition but also provides depth should injuries arise. Gutekunst knows that.

Having fallen one step short of reaching their first Super Bowl since the 2010-2011 season, the Green Bay Packers have suffered defeat two consecutive seasons in the NFC Championship Game. Last season was at the hands of a strong San Francisco 49ers team, and this season ended with a shocking defeat to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Things need to change in Titletown, especially if they want to keep filling up their trophy cases to justify their championship-themed moniker. Especially for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the window of being able to field a competitive team is closing quickly, so this team needs to figure things out, and fast.
Packers can follow familiar formula to stop Rams offense
Load up to stop the run, dare them to beat you deep, and play games with the quarterback. It’s the kind of strategy that stymies the Rams and just happens to be the style of defense Mike Pettine has moved to in the second half of the season.

Bill Belichick sent Sean McVay back to the drawing board. Using a modified bear front, third-down blitzes, and disciplined zone coverage, the New England Patriots built on what Belichick’s protege Matt Patricia unlocked earlier in the 2018. Don’t worry about the eye candy pre-snap motion; stop the run and make Jared Goff make accurate throws. It’s a strategy the Green Bay Packers know well, one they have employed to varying degrees a host of times this season, including recently to great success against the Titans.
