put lipstick on this pig. welcome to your $$$$$. i m ali velshi. christine romans the host of your bottom line, my good friend, has been studying these numbers. she breaks it down for us. christine, everybody who watches knows some jobs day we have some area of disagreement. i can t find one. you and i are together on this. the glass is half empty. you and i both see it that way and it s rare. 69,000 jobs created. this the world s largest economy, the world labor the world follows, the biggest driver of growth. there you go. if people don t have a job, they can t be spending money. here is the trend, look. this is what s important. you don t look at one month of data. you like to see what the trend is nor markets and economics. the trend after 200,000 jobs created and more, people are saying, it s healing, look, the rearview mirror, a slow jobs recovery, then a stall here. one of the reasons might be europe. quite frankly when your biggest customer has countries in it tha
here s what john edwards had to say after the trial. i want to make sure that everyone hears from me and from my voice that while i do not believe i did anything illegal or ever thought i was ever doing anything illegal, i did an awful, awful lot that was wrong. the federal government still has the option of a retrial, that doesn t seem very likely at this point. joining me to talk about all of that, senior legal analyst jeff toobin and david peril managing ed tord of radaronline.com and former editor-in-chief of the national enquirer which first broke the john edwards pregnancy scandal. jeff, are you surprised by this verdict? not at all. this was a weak, weak case, but john edwards was a deeply unappealing person to the jury, so you can see how the jury was pushed in different directions and i think in a way, a mostly hung jury is sort of appropriate resolution of this case because you wouldn t want to see john edwards given how he lived his life walking out of ther
welcome, everybody. our starting point is this breaking news. two american tourists have been kidnapped in dahab, egypt, in the sinai region. the kidnappers, it appears, are trying to negotiate some sort of prisoner exchange. jill daugherty joins us. what do we know? the state department is in touch with the families of these two people. names have not been given. they re 31 years old. the state department is providing counselor services and they are in touch and working very closely with egyptian authorities to try to resolve this. essentially, what happened, these two people, two americans in a car on their way to a resort at dahab. you mentioned that name. it s a former fishing village. apparently really a lovely site, place for snorkeling and diving. and so they were on their way. their car is stopped. they re yanked out of the car and taken away. it appears that the people who did that want the release the demand is for the release of an egyptian man who was arrest
i m erin burnett. outfront tonight, saving us from ourselves. a superhero saving america, just like clark kent, the original 1950 superman. faster than a speeding bullet. more powerful than a locomotive. able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. look, up in the sky, it s a bird. it s a plane. it s super bloomberg. he came to new york city with powers and abilities far more than mortal men. super bloomberg has banned smoking in bars and parks. forced restaurants to stop using transfats as his bare hands and he is really fighting for america s health, saying you can t buy a big gulp. it s a shot heard from coast to coast, the mayor planning to ban the sale of all sugary drinks sold in containers larger than 16 ounces. including energy drinks and presweetened iced teas. former president bill clinton weighed in. i know a lot of people think this is an anti-state and he is interfering, but these are very serious problems. and there are a lot of things in our diet th
new england area, the first circuit court of appeals, and they cover basically, you know, maine, vermont, new hampshire, puerto rico, believe it or not, and massachusetts. so this ruling is binding only on that area of the united states, the federal courts that cover that area of the united states. it s a very, very important precedent that will be looked at by courts around the united states and there are at least seven other lawsuits pending, challenging the doma act. this is a very important precedent. this also makes it more likely that it could move its way up to the supreme court, yes? absolutely yes. because what the supreme court likes to do, especially when dealing with controversial issues, is to basically allow the lower courts to resolve it and come up with different solutions and then the supreme court, you know, hands down a decision for the entire country. and now you mentioned seven other existing cases? yes. i was just as i was reading the decision
