what was verdict day like for you? verdict day was it was i ve been following this thing since it started. i was talking to mayor cornell harvey almost every day outside of the courthouse. there was always activity going on outside. i remember talking to him the day after the verdict came out. he was about the first person i talked to. he was out there on the grass watching the the situation going on out there, and i went and shook his hand. i won t tell you what i said to him. but what he said to me was, larry, we showed that a person can get justice in a small southern town today. we saw that justice is not colorblind. we showed the world how to get justice with peace.
