Everything you need to know about the new biomes, Wardens, and more
Want to know everything that’s coming in the Minecraft 1.18 update? The Caves and Cliffs update has been split into two halves: the first part has already been released with the Minecraft 1.17 update. This means we have plenty of new Minecraft mobs to get acquainted with such as goats, glow squid, and axolotls, as well as the brand new amethyst blocks.
However, the 1.18 update is where all the world-changing features will arrive. These include the new biomes, a fearsome new enemy mob in the form of the Minecraft Warden, and new blocks that enable wireless Redstone for the first time in Minecraft. It’s all very exciting stuff and if you can’t wait until the official release date to experience it for yourself, you should probably check out the Minecraft snapshot betas.

Minecraft has been one of the most popular sandbox games over the years. Mojang Studios is gearing up to launch the 1.17 Update for the game, also known as the Caves and Cliffs Update which will be adding a plethora of new content to the game.

Ahead of the release of the Caves and Cliffs update, the developers have been releasing a number of snapshots and beta updates to test some of the features upcoming Caves and Cliffs. A few weeks ago, Glow Squids made their way into the game via a snapshot and it quickly became a hit in the community. The last snapshot added Lush Caves to the biome alongside numerous other bug fixes and performance improvements.

TECHNICAL CHANGES IN 21W10A
The maximum size that slimes can be summoned with is now 128
The give command can only give up to 100 stacks of items at a time (e.g. 6400 stone or 100 iron swords)
OPENGL
Rendering is now using OpenGL 3.2 core profile. All fixed function rendering has been replaced with shader based rendering.
SHADERS
Shaders are now included for all supported render states. Any shader except for the blit shader can also be replaced in resource packs. For now replacing these shaders is not officially supported and the way it works may change in the future.

Wonderful word, moist . The parrots of pop culture will tell it s the worst word in the English language, but I think they need to spend less time around sleazebags and more getting proper moist. How wonderful that the latest snapshot build of Minecraft s upcoming Caves & Cliffs update introduces much moistness: moss blocks, spore blossoms, dangling vines with glowing berries, and more.
Minecraft Java Snapshot 21W05A is available now, adding some of the parts that honestly are what most interest me in Caves & Cliffs. It s the Lush Caves biome I m after, which will house a lot of this new greenery.
