According to the LMAS Health Department, over the last two weeks, the Upper Peninsula has seen only 82 new cases of COVID.
Public Information Officer with LMAS, Kerry Ott, said vaccinations have been down as well, with the department only administering just over 200 since July 1, which is lower than usual.
July 1 was also when Governor Whitmer announced the vaccine lottery.
“We don’t know if it’s because people don’t want to be bribed to take the shot, but also it may just be holiday and vacations too, but we just continue to chug along and make opportunities available,” said Ott.
