41 migrants on board a rescue ship that docked at an italian port without official permission have now disembarked. The ship landed on saturday on the island of lampedusa, even though italys far right interior minister, matteo salvini, had warned it to stay away. Gareth barlow has more. Under dark skies and after days onboard, the migrants were allowed to disembark. The boat that bound them in the mediterranean had docked in the port of lampedusa hours earlier. The italian coastguard made repeated demands for it to turn around. Translation i repeat the order, you have to stop. You are violating the decree released onjuly 5th 2019 and youre resisting against a military ship. On board are 41 migrant rescued from the mediterranean and now facing intolerable hygienic conditions, according to the charity that runs the boat.
