Old Steve, the pan-clanging ghost Thomas Hall is said to be haunted by the ghost of Old Steve, the university s head cook from 1906. Old Steve s kitchen used to lie beneath the classrooms and library in the middle of the multi-purpose building, and his lunches were known to include so much shouting and cursing at staff that they disrupted campus. Every fall, when the student housing area s heating system is turned on, its mechanical maelstrom is reminiscent of Old Steve and his clanging pots, crackling fire and heated attitude.
