Mar 23, 1931 Dec 07, 2020 Thomas W. Smith, born March 23rd, 1931 to Robert L. “Bob” Smith, II and Willie Mae Smith passed away on December 7th, 2020 in San Angelo, Texas. Originally from Slaton, Texas, Tom wore Slaton Tiger jersey #24 and enjoyed the aggressive acquisition of real-estate on the grid-iron at a time when real men wore leather helmets without face-masks, high-top leather cleats and marked their march to the goal-line with real pigskin. Tom graduated from Slaton High School in 1949 and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until being drafted into the U.S. Army. While in the Army, as a member of 2d Armor Div. HOW (“Hell-On-Wheels”), 3d Medium Tank Battalion, C Co., Tom got a three-day pass, during which he managed to convince Eudene to marry him.
