Lubbock community news in brief Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Slaton Lions Club hosting burger fundraiser The Slaton Lions Club is hosting a hamburger fundraiser from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph s parking lot. Burgers will be served from the Chamber of Commerce food trailer in a drive-through and pick up format. Funds raised through this event will benefit local school scholarships. Burgers and cost are: $6 for a hamburger; $7 for a cheeseburger; $8 for a Lion Burger; $9 for a Lion Cheeseburger; and add $2 for a drink and chips.
