Comics, record store opens in Griswold Connecticut at Slater Mill Mall

GRISWOLD Comics have been a way of life for Chris Hebert since, as a child, he was given a Star Wars: Return of the Jedi comic book by his mother before getting surgery about 40 years ago. Since then, he has kept up comic book collecting as both a hobby and as a side job. However, the pandemic has made him rethink how he approaches his business. On Sunday, Hebert, along with Mike Young, opened CH2 Collectibles featuring RPM Records, in the Slater Mill Mall in Griswold. The collectibles include comics, records, toy cars and trading cards. The store’s hours are Thursdays and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Knotting Shed in Griswold put in "110%" effort over 40 years

“We started with just a few macramé classes and we evolved from there,” Kiddy said. Kiddy’s store, the Knotting Shed and Udder Delights, is marking 40 years in business this weekend. Specializing in various crafted and country goods, including Amish-made goods, Kiddy said the secret to her success has been customer service, and listing to the customer. “I’m one to go 110% to get what they’re looking for,” Kiddy said. “I’ll research every available vendor I can research to get the product that they want.” Kiddy believes listening to her customers is important, even when it’s a call at 3 a.m., as customer service is “lacking now wherever you go.”
