Here are two prime Utah spots for watching mountain goats this spring
As with all large wild animals, give them space and don’t feed them.

Utah mountain goats have shaggy white coats and derpy faces, unlike the type of goats that live on farms. But even if they don’t have the fearsome reputations of moose or bears, mountain goats are wild, and you should follow a few guidelines if you want to safely watch them scamper on steep rocks this spring.

Conserve Utah Valley is a recently organized non-profit organization that advocates for the conservation of open space and local areas throughout Utah Valley.
Conserve Utah Valley started as a group of BYU students and faculty whose main interests were protecting Bridal Veil Falls from potential development, but the group’s mission has now expanded beyond than that.
Bridal Veil Falls is a scenic waterfall recreation area in Provo Canyon that attracts thousands of local visitors per year. However, late last year, Utah developer and owner of Cirque Lodge treatment center Richard Losee wanted tobuild a drug rehabilitation center and a tramway that would go up and down the falls. If built, the tram would be open to the public for a fee.
A Salt Lake City resident posted on Next Door, an online neighborhood hub for sharing and exchanging information, a photo of his busted glass door with a warning that a mountain lion had broken into his home. The post by J. K. stated: A mountain lion broke into our family home on Parkview. The wild life guy thought that it was maybe attacking its own reflection. It did come into the house and was confronted by a family member.
SALT LAKE CITY In many ways, 2020 was a year unlike any other.
If there was one headline in the news that could possibly sum it up, it was a CNN guest column with the headline 1918 + 1929 + 1968 = 2020, published back in the thick of protests over police brutality during a pandemic that also resulted in economic calamity.
Of course, 2020 didn t produce something as quite as deadly as the 1918 pandemic or as financially devastating as Black Thursday, or even as violent as 1968. Having those moments in one year, however, was unique. And 2020 produced hardships that those other years didn t, like some of the worst wildfires ever recorded.
No other information about the sighting was provided. It wasn t immediately clear in what area of the canyon the animal was spotted, and University police said they did not have any photos or images of the mountain lion.
The canyon, which is located adjacent to the eastern end of the university s campus, is a popular hiking spot and also home to the Red Butte Canyon Research Natural Area.
Scott Root, outreach manager for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, said the division did receive a call about the sighting and was in standby mode in case the creature became an immediate threat or made its way toward any buildings at the U. campus. He added that biologists likely wouldn t need to do anything if the animal remains in the foothills and Wasatch Mountains, where many of the state s mountain lion population roams around.
