India Arrests Chinese Man Amid Raids on Companies Running 11 Small Loans Apps December 27, 2020 Updated: December 28, 2020
NEW DELHI India arrested on Dec. 25 a Chinese man who managed companies that operated at least 11 apps offering small loans at extremely high interest rates to Indian people between the ages of 20 and 40.
Experts see the potential for the regime in Beijing to gather large amounts of data on Indian citizens through the apps, and for this data to be used to infiltrate Indian society, politics, and economic system.
Yi Bai (alias Dennis) was arrested by cyber police in Hyderabad during a raid on a call center, for illegally running money-lending mobile applications, Indian media outlet DNA reported on Dec. 26.
Chinese national nabbed; two others, including a Chinese citizen, are absconding
The Cyberabad Police on Friday announced the arrest of four persons, including a Chinese national, for their involvement in the app-based money lending cases.
According to the police, the accused are Yi Bai alias Denis, the Chinese citizen, Satyapal Kyalia, a resident of Delhi who hails from Rajasthan Aniridh Malhotra and Murathoti Richie Hemanth Seth, both residents of Hyderabad.
Two others, identified as Umapati alias Ajay and Zixa Zhang, another Chinese national, are said to be absconding.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said that police raided a Cubevo Technology Private Limited, a call centre.

Hyderabad, Dec 25 : A Chinese national was among four people arrested by Cyberabad police on Friday during a raid on a call centre in Hyderabad in the continuing crackdown on illegal loan apps.
Cyber crime police of Cyberabad raided Cubevo Technology Private Ltd’s (Skyline) call centre and arrested four employees Chinese national Yi Bai alias Dennis, Satya Pal Khyalia, Aniriddh Malhotra (both natives of Rajasthan) and Murathoti Richie Hemanth Seth of Andhra Pradesh.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said another Chinese national Zixia Zhang is the main accused in the case and he is absconding along with another key accused Umapati alias Ajay.
