Fire Damages Mobile Home In Pullman

A furnace fire damaged a home on Pullman’s Sunnyside Hill early Thursday morning. Two residents of a mobile home in the Skyline Estates were woken up by a smoke alarm around 3:00.  They used a fire extinguisher to slow the fire and called 911 and escaped the home. Pullman City Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire in the electric central heating unit in the laundry room.  A firefighter was treated and released at Pullman Regional Hospital for minor smoke inhalation. The Pullman Fire Department says the smoke alarm likely saved the lives of the occupants. The accidental fire was caused by the furnace which the residents said was making a ticking sound before they went to bed around 11:00.
