TYRO, N.C. Oak Grove has won five out of its last six Central Carolina 2A Conference matches after earning another road victory on Thursday.
The Grizzlies downed West Davidson in three sets (25-19, 25-17, and 27-25) on West’s Crim Court to gain sole possession of second place in the league standings. No. 12 South Rowan is unbeaten atop the conference and holds an overall record of 7-0 (6-0 CCC 2A).
“I thought they came out strong,” said Oak Grove head volleyball coach Cherie Bowman after her team’s road victory. “We’ve had some games where we started slow, but today we started a little stronger. I hate that we had to take that last game to that close (27-25). As I was telling them, that’s the first time that we have had a close game and we needed that.”
