April 22: Volunteer work day at Mount Graceheadquarters
ATHOL On Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., staff and volunteerse of the Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust will be hosting a volunteer work day to hand pull the remaining invasives, create the pollinator plots, and plant natives at Skyfields Arboretum located at 1461 Old Keene Road in Athol. Come out and celebrate Earth Day by helping the pollinators.
Area trusts join forces for Give Back to the Land Day
Community members are invited to visit www.givebacktotheland.org by midnight Thursday to learn about the work of local land trusts.

This Earth Day, five environmental organizations in Western and Central Massachusetts are joining forces for the second annual Give Back to the Land Day,” a 24-hour online event Thursday, April 22, raising funds for regional land trusts that work to conserve trails, forests, farms, and waterways in Massachusetts.

April 10: Local organic farmers to host workshop on mushroom growing
BARRE Many Hands Organic Farm will be hosting a workshop regarding Mushroom Growing on April 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at the farm in Barre. Join the cast and crew at Many Hands Organic Farm for two hours of hands-on learning. We’ll be hefting logs, plugging them with shitake spawn, and sealing the plugs over with cheese wax. When we’re done with that we’ll start our first ever oyster totems, using poplar logs. Potluck lunch to follow, questions encouraged. Registration is available on the Many Hands Organic Farm website at mhof.net/events-workshops.
