Lancashire is set to remain under Tier 3 lockdown restrictions for a further fortnight, it is understood.
It means Lancashire residents will remain under strict rules for Christmas, with Health Secretary Matt Hancock due to make an announcement this morning (December 17).
Restaurants and pubs will remain closed throughout the festive period and until 2021, and household mixing indoors is banned.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock is due to give a live TV address at a Downing Street press conference on Monday evening.
The briefing will come after Mr Hancock explains what he is going to say in the House of Commons at 3.30pm.
The announcement comes as coronavirus rates rocket across the country and amid speculation that some areas could see their tier level increased today.
Tiers are not supposed to be reviewed until later in the week but rates are rising so rapidly that more immediate action may be needed.
