Former Mablethorpe secondary school building to be demolished

Lincolnshire County Council wants to demolish a former secondary school in Mablethorpe to prepare it for “future development”.
In an application to its own planning department, LCC says the Monks Dyke Tennyson College buildings are “becoming unsafe, vulnerable to arson and attracting vandalism and anti-social behaviour”.
It said the buildings are “no longer fit for purpose”.
The Mablethorpe campus closed its doors for the final time in July 2016 after merging with the Louth site of Monks Dyke Technology College, which itself was amalgamated into Louth Academy.

Over 10,000 people have now had a rapid coronavirus test at one of the two community testing facilities in Lincoln since the start of 2021.
An average of 200 people per day have been for tests between the two sites at Lincoln City’s LNER Stadium and at St Swithin’s Community Centre off Monks Road. The rapid lateral flow tests provide results in less than an hour.
Some 9,980 people were tested by Tuesday evening and this figure rose above 10,000 by Wednesday afternoon. Of these people, 131 tested positive for COVID-19 (1.31% positivity rate).
