PLANS for five new glamping pods at a camp site in South Lakeland have been approved by the Lake District National Park Authority. The applicant, Skelwith Fold Caravan Park near Ambleside, is a large touring and static caravan site (in excess of 400 pitches) which covers 18 hectares. It is proposed to site five “glamping pods” on grassland within a wider area which was the subject of a recent successful application for a lawful development certificate for use for the purposes of amenity in association with the caravan park. Each pod would measure 6.4m by 3.6m with a small area of decking.
