Lambert Boats 60-08 To Claim Group A Win

The 17 scorable bass that Jason Lambert boated on Sunday averaged more than 3 1/2 pounds apiece.
By MLF Communications Staff Jason Lambert of Michie, Tenn. overtook Day-1 leader Russ Lane of Prattville, Ala. early in Period 1 Sunday and never looked back. Lambert boated 17 bass on the day totaling 60-08 to win the Qualifying Round for Group A at the MLF Bass Pro Tour event at Lake Chickamauga in Dayton, Tenn.
Lamberts two-day total of 34 bass weighing 109-13 earned him the win by a 22-01 margin over Lane, who finished the round in 2nd place with a two-day catch of 26 bass totaling 77-12. Reigning Bass Pro Tour Angler of the Year (AOY) Jordan Lee of Cullman, Ala. boated a two-day total of 20 bass weighing 73-13 to end the round in 3rd place, while his brother, Matt Lee, also of Cullman, finished in 4th place with a two-day total of 20 bass for 59-12. By MLF Communications Staff It was the best opening day of the season at the MLF Bass Pro Tour event at Lake Chickamauga in Dayton, Tenn. The 40 pros in Group A caught a single-day total of 271 bass weighing 806-10 on Thursday the heaviest weight caught on any Day 1 so far in 2021.
Russ Lane of Prattville, Ala., was firmly in control of the Group A leaderboard after Day 1 concluded, catching 23 bass totaling 70-12 to grab the early lead in the two-day Group A Qualifying Round. Lane will take a 21-06 lead into Sundays second day of competition for Group A.
“In my wildest dreams I never thought I could win a tournament on Eufaula in mid-May fishing shallow,” Abrams said to MLF reporters after the event. “This lake is known for deep ledges and brush piles this time of year. But I came here to do my thing and fish the way I like to fish and it turned into a win – that’s pretty special.”
Coming into Lake Eufaula, Abram said his plan was to fish shallow. He did not think the tournament would be won shallow, he just wanted to fish shallow to get back to his fishing roots: an East Tennessee run-and-gun approach.
