The International Skating Union has agreed to extend the ban of
Russian and Belarusian athletes from its competitions until a decision
from the Council or Congress to overturn it, but a motion to change
its rules on suspending officials failed to secure the super majority
required.
Russian and Belarusian officials have been allowed to stand in the
International Skating Union’s elections after surviving a vote to
exclude them from the organisation’s Congress in Phuket in Thailand.
The National Federations of Russia and Belarus could be suspended by
the International Skating Union over the war in Ukraine if a
last-ditch motion is passed at next month’s Congress.
Russia's Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin has revealed that the country
is considering staging a replacement figure skating tournament, having
been stripped of November's International Skating Union Grand Prix.
The Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FSFR) is disappointed with a recently announced decision of the International Skating Federation (ISU) and will continue protecting interests of its national athletes, the RSFR press service reported on Monday, according to TASS
