As if that wasn’t enough pain, two days before the burial the Teka family from Engcobo discovered their gogo Nomdakana (89) went missing from Abaxolisi Funeral Directors in the Eastern Cape. Now her granddaughter, Vathiswa, believes her gogo was mistakenly buried somewhere. She said when they went to the funeral parlour, there was a body classified as unknown. “We thought the unknown body belonged to the family that mistakenly buried our gogo, but it was found that wasn’t the case,” she said.

Covid-19: Eastern Cape may have to wait 3 months for vaccine to be rolled out

Fallon / AFP via Getty Images The Eastern Cape government will only visit sites clearly identified for rolling out vaccines at the end of April.  The province is looking to employ 571 people to work as vaccinators when it begins vaccinating 3.7 million people in the next six to nine months. Health MEC Sindiswa Gomba said the province would use 1 158 sites, including clinics and hospitals, to service 5 414 residential areas.   People in the Eastern Cape might have to wait more than three months to be vaccinated. This according to Health MEC Sindiswa Gomba during a press briefing in Bhisho on Thursday. She said a provincial task team, which will co-ordinate the vaccination programme in the Eastern Cape, would only inspect the readiness of all identified sites for the rolling out of vaccines at the end of April 2021.
