Gorey students 'not being listened to'

Sixth Years at Gorey Community School have come together to create a Student Council sub-committee on Leaving Certificate arrangements, having written to the Department of Education to express their views. On Friday last (5th), Education Minister Norma Foley announced that planning is underway for a combination of Leaving Cert exams and an alternative assessment option. The exact details of this decision, which came about following intensive engagements of the sub-group of the Advisory Group of education stakeholders are yet to be worked out but it s believed that the State Examinations Commission would run both assessments, Gorey students have widely welcomed this step forward, but are still seeking clarity.
