great cities, you think of some of the bridges. this is going to be an absolutely iconic bridge. the new sixth street viaduct which the city calls the ribbon is light is replacing one that was literally crumbling after having been built in the 1930s. it connected a gentrified district in downtown l.a. with a working class, largely latino neighborhood called boyle heights. how much does this thing called? counting the land, the leases, the design, the construction, $588 million. when you hear the president today talking about creating well-paying, blue collar jobs, those are the jobs these men and women have. absolutely. these people here are skilled and very talented. to me they re even underpaid. sometimes people see the before and the after, they forget this whole bridge is constructed by hand. high up on the bridge, we met an iron worker. what s it like to work on this project? it s pretty cool, i grew up
